How SIZZIO handles information when you use the app, website and launch waitlist.

Last updated: 3 September 2026

SIZZIO is an everyday cooking and recipe app. This policy explains what information we handle, why we use it, who may process it for us and the choices available to you.

1. Who is responsible for your information?

For the purposes of applicable UK data-protection law, SIZZIO is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can contact SIZZIO about privacy, your account or a data request at hello@sizzio.co.uk.

2. Information you provide

If you create a SIZZIO account, we may process information such as your email address, first name or display name, profile picture, cooking preferences, favourite cuisines, cooking goals, usual serving size, allergy preferences, saved recipes and recipe history.

You may also provide recipe requests, ingredients, cooking questions, imported public recipe links and other information needed to use SIZZIO features. If a feature lets you save a photo, the app will tell you whether that photo is stored on your device or uploaded to your account.

3. Information stored on your device

Some information can be stored locally so SIZZIO works smoothly between sessions. This may include app preferences and locally saved content. Guest-mode information is primarily associated with the device and may be lost if the app is removed, local app data is cleared or you change devices before supported data is synced to an account.

4. Website waitlist information

If you join the SIZZIO launch waitlist on sizzio.co.uk, we store the email address you submit together with limited signup information such as the page or acquisition source that led to the signup. We use this to operate the waitlist, understand which SIZZIO pages are useful and contact you about the SIZZIO launch.

5. Website analytics

The SIZZIO website uses limited first-party analytics to understand page views, anonymous visitors, traffic sources, countries and device categories. The analytics database does not store raw IP addresses. An anonymous browser identifier may be stored locally in your browser so visits can be counted more accurately. Session storage may also be used to preserve acquisition information such as Google, ChatGPT, TikTok or another referral source during a visit.

Our hosting and security providers necessarily receive technical network information, which can include an IP address, when they deliver or protect the website. That infrastructure processing is separate from the SIZZIO owner analytics dashboard described above.

6. How we use information

We use information to provide and secure SIZZIO, create and personalise recipes, remember your preferences, sync supported account data, improve the relevance of For You recommendations, operate saved recipes and cooking history, answer Kitchen Companion questions, run the launch waitlist, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse and understand how the website and app are being used.

7. Recipe generation and Kitchen Companion

When you request a recipe or ask Kitchen Companion a cooking question, information needed to answer the request may be sent to services that power recipe generation. This can include the meal request, selected preferences, ingredients, allergy preferences, current recipe and current cooking step. Please do not enter sensitive personal information that is not needed for cooking.

8. Service providers

SIZZIO uses third-party providers to operate parts of the service. These currently include OpenAI for recipe and cooking-assistance features, Pexels for food imagery, Supabase for account authentication and synced account data, Render for SIZZIO backend hosting, Vercel for the public website, and Apple for App Store distribution, purchases and subscription management. Providers process information under their own terms, privacy commitments and applicable safeguards.

We do not sell your personal data.

9. TikTok, YouTube and public recipe links

If you paste a public TikTok, YouTube or recipe-page link, SIZZIO may read publicly available information from that page to help reconstruct a usable recipe. SIZZIO does not require access to your TikTok or YouTube account. When a source does not publish complete ingredients or instructions, the resulting recipe may contain sensible reconstruction rather than an exact copy of the creator's recipe.

10. Photos

Profile pictures may be uploaded to SIZZIO account storage so they can appear with your account. Finished-meal photos are currently stored locally on your device unless the app clearly tells you otherwise before an upload.

11. Allergies and nutrition

Allergy preferences are used to guide recipe generation, but SIZZIO cannot guarantee that a recipe, ingredient or packaged product is allergen-free. Always check ingredient labels and cross-contamination warnings yourself. Nutrition information is an estimate only and is not medical or dietary advice.

12. Our legal bases

Where UK data-protection law applies, we process information where necessary to provide the service you request or perform our agreement with you; for legitimate interests such as operating, securing and improving SIZZIO; to comply with legal obligations; or with your consent where consent is required. Where information you choose to provide requires additional protection under applicable law, we handle it only for the SIZZIO feature you have asked to use and apply the additional legal basis required by that law.

13. How long we keep information

Account and synced cooking data may be retained while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for security, legal, fraud-prevention, backup or operational purposes. Waitlist information is retained while it is reasonably needed for launch communications unless you ask us to remove it. Local app or browser data remains until you remove it, clear it, uninstall the app or your browser removes it.

14. International processing

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where international-transfer rules apply, SIZZIO and its providers use the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.

15. Your choices and rights

You can change preferences in Profile, remove saved content, clear recipe history and sign out. Signed-in users can permanently delete their SIZZIO account and synced account data from the Delete account option in the app.

Depending on where you live and the legal basis used, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and in some circumstances receive a portable copy of your information or withdraw consent. To make a request, email hello@sizzio.co.uk.

Your right to object: where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object to that processing. We will consider the request in accordance with applicable law.

If you are in the UK and are unhappy with how a privacy concern is handled, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

16. Children

SIZZIO is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children below the minimum age required to create an independent online account in their country.

17. Security

We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect SIZZIO data, including authenticated account access, restricted database permissions and protected owner analytics. No online service can promise absolute security, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your account credentials private.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as SIZZIO changes or legal requirements develop. The date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
